Neck Lines: Can You Use the Same Lifting Plan as for Your Face?

Horizontal neck lines, fine wrinkles, and loose skin can raise different questions. Before choosing a device, clarify what bothers you and what to discuss at your consultation.

Hello from RE:NINE Clinic.

When thinking about facial care, you may also notice lines across your neck or loose skin beneath your chin. Does the lifting treatment you had on your face suit your neck too? Start by explaining whether your concern is a visible line, skin laxity, or both.

Separate lines from skin laxity

Is your main concern a horizontal crease, fine wrinkles, or loose skin around the neck and under the chin? Photographs alone cannot establish the condition or whether treatment is needed.

Mayo Clinic's guide to wrinkles identifies aging and ultraviolet exposure among the factors involved. Rather than attributing everything to age or a single habit, describe when you first noticed the change and how it has developed.

Before repeating a facial treatment on the neck

Do not assume the same device or number of sessions should be repeated on another area. Share the area you want assessed, your current skin condition, and previous face or neck treatments and reactions. Discuss suitability, realistic changes, and limitations with the clinician before making a plan.

If you are considering Ultherapy, Thermage FLX, or Sofwave, look beyond device names. Ask which part of the neck would be addressed, whether the face or under-chin area should also be assessed, and whether another approach deserves consideration. A particular combination or a greater number of treatments is not necessary for everyone.

Moisturizing and lifting have different goals

The American Academy of Dermatology's skin-tightening guidance distinguishes temporarily making fine lines less noticeable through moisturizing from lifting sagging skin with a cream. Avoid expecting the same result from a cosmetic product and a procedure. Be specific about the change you most want to discuss.

Mention neck-care products, exfoliants, medicines, and past procedures. Redness, itching, or wounds need assessment separately from cosmetic treatment planning. You can also ask about moisturizing, sun protection, and the products you use before your appointment.

Three questions to take to your consultation

Ask: “Should we assess the lines or laxity first?” “Which options suit my condition, and what are their limits?” “How should I plan aftercare and follow-up?” Include important events, travel plans, and your departure date.

If under-chin fullness is also a concern, read our double-chin and skin-laxity consultation guide. For booking preparation, see the first-visit guide.

Frequently asked questions

Can facial lifting and neck treatment be done on the same day?

This depends on the treatment type and area, skin condition, and previous care. Share your preferred areas and dates, then confirm suitability after assessment.

Will a fixed number of sessions remove horizontal neck lines?

The same session count or result cannot be promised for every line. Agree on the concern and goal, then discuss realistic changes, limitations, and when progress should be reviewed.

Can a treatment be decided from a neck photograph?

A photograph can help explain your concern, but it does not replace an examination. Use advance inquiries to prepare; decide on a specific treatment plan after consultation and assessment.
